Acadia National Park
Travelers flock to Maine’s Acadia National Park for its dramatic landscapes, diverse flora and fauna and miles of carriage roads that are catnip for hikers and bikers. Car-free proponents will appreciate the Island Explorer shuttles, whisking you to the park’s remote nooks and crannies in a jiffy. The National Park Service celebrates its centennial birthday in 2016 making this year an especially festive time to visit.
Yellow House offers classic cottage charm and New England hospitality in the center of Bar Harbor. The spacious wrap-around porch and onsite sculpture garden are visual delights, while breakfast will please the palate.
"Wonderfully relaxing place to stay"
Yellow House was the perfect spot for my husband and me to spend a few days on our first trip to Bar Harbor. The innkeepers, Pat and Chris, gave us maps of the area and went over them with us to make sure we had a good feel for the area. The house itself is located just a few steps from downtown yet you feel completely isolated from the crowded streets and sidewalks. It is a great place to come back to at the end of the day and relax on the porch with a glass of wine. We would definitely return to Yellow House if we are ever in the area again.

"Quintessential Maine Hospitality"
Our stay at the Yellow House in Bar Harbor was exactly as we had hoped – the quintessential Maine house with the huge verandah and lots of white wicker furniture. Our hosts knew exactly how to serve their guests with exceptional breakfasts and wine at 5:00 in the comfort of a grand mid 19th century cottage with period furniture. And all of this just steps from the ocean. Would we return? Absolutely.

"Delightful, quiet B&B steps from the ocean and downtown"
We hands-down LOVED the Yellow House. It is comfortable, spacious, truly 30 seconds from town and from the ocean walk, but is very quiet and feels secluded while you're there. The owners, Pat and Chris, immediately make you feel welcome and at home, and are remarkably helpful with restaurants and with fine-tuning what you do while you're in Bar Harbor. In addition to books and maps that they make available to guests, Pat and Chris also have first hand experience so can really help you make the most of your stay. (They recommended which hike to do up Cadillac Mtn in Acadia, where to park and how to avoid crowds!) The breakfasts are delicious and filling, and the evening wine they set out each nice is a lovely touch, as well as the help-yourself tea and coffee available any time in the pantry. The wrap-around porch with all its rockers call for you to come put your feet up and rest a spell, read, rock, just be still. Yet when you're ready for dinner, in 30 seconds you're on Main Street. You'd never know it was right there.
The Yellow House does not have an ocean view, but it's so quiet here and the ocean is so very close that we truly didn't mind. This was definitely our best inn of our vacation, and one of the best ever. Pat and Chris know how to do this right!

Pat and Chris Coston leave no detail unaddressed. Wonderful authentic Maine summer cottage. Spacious rooms, first class amenities, and the perfect location in Bar Harbor. A few steps from the Shore Path, a few steps from Main Street, but in a spot that feels private and secluded. Beautiful porch and breakfast to die for. Truly the best of everything.
